Add a K&N Air Filter to your S10 or GMC to improve both the longevity of
the motor and its performance.

The unique design of the K&N air filter, utilizing an oiled cotton fabric,
holds many advantages over the traditional paper filter. It offers increased
performance, increased protection from dirt and debris, and is reusable!

Performance
The K&N filter uses an oiled cotton fabric to trap dirt particles. The cotton fabric
is sandwiched between pleated aluminum screen. This pleating increases the surface area
of the filter which promotes air flow and prolongs the service of the filter. For comparison,
pleating exposes five times more surface area than a flat foam filter element. Paper filters
are made from compressed fibers. The spaces between these fibers provide microscopic holes the
air must pass through. One by one, these holes become plugged with dirt and dust particles. After
a hole becomes plugged, the air must find an alternate route through the filter. As the filter
collects more dirt, there are fewer and fewer holes left open and the filters resistance to air
flow increases. Since the engine requires air for proper combustion, this causes horsepower and
fuel economy to decrease. However, in order to meet minimum filtration standards the paper element
must be thick and/or the fibers must be tightly compressed and dense. Therefore, paper filter elements
are restrictive to air flow by design. The design of the K&N filter alleviates this restriction to air
flow and thus, increases the performance and fuel efficiency of the engine.
Protection
A K&N air filter offers your engine greater protection from dirt as compared to a paper filter. As a paper
filter collects dirt, the air pressure inside the filter decreases relative to the atmospheric air pressure
outside the filter. An excessively high pressure differential created by a restricted filter can literally
pull dirt particles through the paper medium. Therefore, the paper filters ability to protect your engine
and flow air decreases near the end of its service life. On the other hand, the filtration efficiency of a
K&N filter increases as it collects dirt. Tests have shown a K&N E-1500 filter will flow 60 percent of its
maximum flow capacity after 50,000 miles of street use. And, considering a new K&N flows half again as much
air as a comparable paper element, that same filter will provide all of the air the engine needs even after
50,000 miles. For comparison, the air flow through a paper filter near its service life of about 14,000 miles
can decrease by as much as 70 percent. Quite simply, a K&N air filter will provide superior filtration without
sacrificing air flow for a longer period of time.
Reusable
Another advantage the K&N filter has over conventional filters is its ability to be cleaned. Simply
wash, dry, and re-oil the filter element at regularly scheduled intervals and it will continue providing
your engine with clean air for the lifetime of your car. You won't have to buy another air filter ever again!
